My Pull List 2012

20 Jan

As I begin my journey into mystery  I find a deadpool of zombie criminals craving to devour the punisher of their souls.

Moving on, I end up in the middle of a fight between a teenage mutant ninja turtle who's striking with his bow a Batwing.

Finally, I end up back in Dahomey training amongst the amazons and I meet a real Wonder Woman.

The Punisher-2004 Film

16 Jun

The Punisher is one of my favorite comic book characters and when this movie come out, I was really excited to see it. This film was the second Punisher film that has been  made. It was a reboot of the 1989 film. I haven’t seen the 1989 film but I did watch Punisher: War Zone and though a lot of folks didn’t like this one,  I enjoyed that film as well.

The 2004 film is stars Thomas Jane as The Punisher, John Travolta as Howard Saint, and Rebecca Romijn as Joan. Will Paton and Roy Scheider also star in the movie which was directed by Jonathan Hensleigh. This film was mainly based off two comic book stories: The Punisher: Year One and Welcome Back Frank along with scenes from other stories such as Marvel Preview Presents: The Punisher #2, Marvel Super Action Featuring: The Punisher #1, The Punisher War Zone, and The Punisher War Journal.

This was a great film. It has a balanced amount of humor, drama, and action. There were a lot of memorable scenes in the film:

The first for me was the scene where Howard Saint-the main villian of the film-and his wife are getting into the car after attending their son’s funeral and he finds out from his second-in-command Quentin Glass (played by Will Paton) about the true identity of Otto Kreig  (who is really Frank Castle in disguise).  Howard wants to just kill Castle but then his wife says “Wait” and you see her lift her veil over her hat and she says “His whole family.” That scene was just chilling and you can see that wife is just as evil as her husband.

The second and third scenes are when you see Frank’s entire family enjoying each other’s company at a reunion in the Puerto Rico. They’re listening to his father-played by Roy Scheider (Jaws)-give a speech. It’s just a beautiful scene.  Of course the next scene isn’t so beautiful-it’s a violent massacre of the whole entire family by Saint’s men.

Some other scenes that were memorable are also very comedic.  Most of these scenes feature Spacker Dave, Bumpo, and Joan who are Castle’s fellow apartment tenants.  My favorite is when Frank is fighting the Russian-which in itself has it’s comedic moments-and Bumpo and Spacker Dave are trying to cheer up Joan by singing opera and dancing around. That’s my favorite scene of the movie.

Finally another memorable scene for me was the final action in the film-when Frank attacks Howard’s headquarters and blows up some of the cars in the parking lot that culminates in the shape of Frank’s iconic skull.

The Punisher was an excellent film. I enjoy it everything I watch it. Great action, wonderful drama, and awesome comedy this film is one you can watch over and over again.
