Music Spotlight: @BillyWrightLive

4 Apr

Hey guys! So if you probably didn't know by now (where have you been?) I love music! I don't know everything about it but I do love it!  I listen to it everyday, it's one of the few things in this life that make me happy.  So I decided to do a music spotlight. I'll try to be consistent and do it every week. So on to the spotlight!

Billy Wright

Billy has his first CD out entitled Sunrise. It's an excellent cd. It's all about love and all the emotions and things that come with it. It's a beautiful cd. My three favorite tracks are Hope, The Fall, and Remember.

Billy will be performing at The Haven Lounge (http://www.thehavenrocks.com/) April 6th at 9pm in Winter Park, FL. Please go out and support this awesome artist!

My Anti-Valentine’s Day Playlist

14 Feb

Okay I don’t care about Valentines Day. I don’t get nor see the point of this holiday. No, I’m not some bitter female. I just don’t care for this holiday. To me, if you love someone you should show it everyday and not just on one day….I guess it’s because concerning falling in love I feel like if it happens it will happen but if not then it’s not the end of the world.

Me, I’m not the type of girl who wants roses and a box of chocolates (I am a sucker for plush toys though). I perfer sunflowers, daisies, lilies, lilacs, and violets. And if you give me chocolate then give me a Musketeer damnit!

Okay so here’s my anti-valentine’s day playlist full of music that you can dance to and not full of the valentimes day spirit! LOL so enjoy!

Amy Winehouse-Love is a Losing Game

The Ting Tings-Shut Up and Let Me Go

Elevator Fight-It's Okay

Foo Fighters-Let it Die

Good Charlotte- I don’t wanna be in love

Adele- Set Fire to the Rain

Beyonce- All the Single Ladies

All American Rejects- Gives you hell

Cake- Sick of you

Maroon 5- Harder to breathe

Cee Lo- F*** You

Gloria Gaynor- I will survive

Roberta Flack- Killing Me Softly with his song

Janis Joplin- Take another little piece of my heart

Elvis Presley-Heartbreak Hotel

Justin Timberlake- Cry Me a River

Linkin Park- In the End

No Doubt- Don’t Speak

Lauren Hill- Ex-Factor

Mary J. Blige- Not Goin’ Cry

My Musicology: I wanna start a band

23 Nov

I wanna start a band that plays rock music and other genres. I love music it’s just this wonderful thing that I can’t live without.  Everyday I’m discovering music and artists that I didn’t know of before.  Everyday I’m revisiting the classic songs that introduced me to this wonderful thing called music. For example, I’ve been introduced to Janelle Monae’.  I remember watching the Grammy’s last year and she performed during a set with Burno Mars and B.o.B.  Her hair is styled in a pompadoure style.  If you haven’t heard her music go to www.janellemonae.com and check it out. Also Elevator Fight (http://www.myspace.com/elevatorfight)-which has Zoey Kravitz (X-men First Class, daughter of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet (Denise on The Cosby Show) as the lead singer-is another awesome band to check out. Visit their myspace page. Another artist who’s trying to get his start is my co-worker Billy Wright (http://www.myspace.com/billywrightlive). Please take a listen to his music it’s wonderful!

Okay now to what I first stated: I want to start a band.

Here are my skills: My first instrument was a recorder then I moved on to play the baritone in 6th and par t of 7th grade. I’m beginning to learn the guitar-I want to learn electric and acoustic. I can sing-how well I don’t know. I sing when I lead the Torah service at Shul (synagogue) and when I say the Torah blessings and when I read the Torah. I’ve been told by a few people that I have a good voice and with a little practice it can better but beauty is in the ear of the beholder.

What kind of music do I like? I love all types but rock is my favorite.  Visit my blip page: www.blip.fm/sailortalipluto to see what I like. I’m no expert I don’t know everything but I’m willing to learn and want to learn.

So that’s it. If you’re in the Central Florida area-perferable Seminole or Orange county let me know. Email me taliadina@gmail.com

So far so good..

3 Nov

So this week was my third week at my job and so far I like my job. I have to talk to customers but it’s not bad at all. I’m getting familiar with the regulars who come into the library on a daily basis and I’m talking to them and getting to know them better. Some of them actually think that I should know their student number by now when they come up to check things out.

This is strange for me. If you don’t know already I have social phobia and anxiety and I’m somewhat anti-social with a little depression mixed in.

Another thing happened to me which has never happened to me before. One of the regulars came up to me and while he was checking stuff out yesterday asked for my number! That’s never happened to me before and whether or not he calls, me I just thought that it was cool that happened. He’s twenty-three and I’m twenty-nine.

Growing up, I was the girl who wrote notes to guys telling them that I liked them etc. (see, writing was in the cards lol). I was shy and had bad experiences with guys-no one noticed me you know asking me out or whatever. Only in college did I have some luck with guys.

I’ve had one serious relationship  (ten years off and on) and three other guys who actually liked me.

But I digress…

So my job I like but I really need to get a car. I hope to get one soon. Then after that I’ll get my dog and then my electric guitar. I want to learn how to play-music is an important part of my life and I need to get back to playing musical instruments.

My first instrument was my voice and then a recorder in elementary school. Next I played the baritone for a year and a half (I was the only girl in the school band who played it). I gave it up after the teacher yelled at me….

I have an acoustic guitar and I’ve tried learning how to play it but I really need to get a tuner. I hear that it’s easier to learn how to play electric so we’ll see.

As far as my writing goes, it’s getting better slowly but surely in the comic book writing arena.

Kehila Magazine is still on hold but I’m working on the new website and I’m thinking to work on the winter issue-but we’ll see. I’ve already created a new logo for Kehila-it isn’t perfect but I like it.

So that’s all for now…so far so good….
