The Avengers Film Preparation Guide: What To Watch

28 Apr

For those of us who have yet to see The Avengers film (because it hasn't been released yet here in the USA or you didn't get an invite to a screening) I have created this film preparation guide (on the fly so bear with me) on what to watch for you fans.

Live Action Films:

If you don't have the money or don't care to see the films in 3D at your local theater, and if you have all of the films or know someone who does, you can do your own Avenger marathon at home or where ever you see fit to do so.

So here's the order:

Iron Man

The Incredible Hulk

Iron Man 2

Thor

Captain America: First Avenger

Bonus:

You might also want to watch these two shorts:

Thor : A funny thing happened on the way to Thor´s Hammer HD found on the Captain America Blue-Ray

If you don't have Blue-Ray then here's where to find it online: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1uD5_ovwqg

The Consultant:

Takes place after IRON MAN 2 and THOR, explains the epilogue scene of INCREDIBLE HULK.

Animated Cartoons & Films:

Ultimate Avengers

Ultimate Avengers 2

Iron Man

Hulk vs. Thor

Thor & Loki: Blood Brothers

Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes Season One (overall the main villian is Loki)

I'm not even gonna get into comics here but if I've left something out that can be watched visually then let me know.

Look what I got in the mail today! It’s Loki!

23 Feb

I was won of the winners for @ilikecomicstoo's contest and I won the Marvel Select Loki action figure from @Figureoftheday!

WOOT!

Thanks!

My Pull List 2012

20 Jan

As I begin my journey into mystery  I find a deadpool of zombie criminals craving to devour the punisher of their souls.

Moving on, I end up in the middle of a fight between a teenage mutant ninja turtle who's striking with his bow a Batwing.

Finally, I end up back in Dahomey training amongst the amazons and I meet a real Wonder Woman.

Comic Books that I do/want/will like to read

20 Jun

I don't own a whole bunch of books (due to not being able to afford them) and if I do buy them I'll only buy one or two at a time and that's a rarity. If I'm not able to afford to buy all of these books I'll definitely keep up with them via websites and youtube.

Deadpool

  • I fell in love with the merc with the mouth while watching Hulk vs. Wolverine. He's a funny crazy guy and I just enjoy reading his stories

The Punisher

  • I'm kinda a loner and I really enjoy this character. I was introduced to him while watching the Spiderman animated series during the 90's. He's an awesome dude who has no powers but an obessive resolve to punish criminals with extreme prejudice.

X-23

  • Wolverine's cool, but I love his "daughter" better. I'm enjoying her book.

Daken

  • Three words to describe this guy: Crazy, Sexy, Cool.

Loki

  • He's one of my favorite villians. He's the black sheep in the Odin household and I kinda feel for the guy. Now that he's been brought back by his brother Thor as a kid, I am very curious about the path he'll take.

Black Panther

  • This guy rocks! I was introduced to him watching the second animated Avenger film. And then I got better aquainted with him by watching the Black Panther  six-part motion comic on youtube (which originally aired on BET and I don't know if they'll be more but there should be!) I've never have read any of his comics but I'm determined to do so now.

Misty Knight

  • This lady kicks butt! I never heard of her until two years back which is a shame. I usually read X-men and any X-men related books so that's probally why. There are not a lot of women of color in the comic book world-which is a shame.

Static Shock

  • R.I.P. Dwayne McDuffie. Thank you for creating this character and bringing him to life on the TV so I could watch his cartoon every saturday and weekday afternoons (when they used to put cartoons on!). I'm going to start reading his book!

Mr. Terriffic

  • A smart dude who's rich and is a superhero. Sound familiar? I've seen cameos of him on the Justic League Unlimited show and I am ever more curious.

Batwoman

  • I remember the animated movie they had that stared Batwoman and Batman. Batman is a fave character of mine but I want to read about the ladies in and associated with the Bat family.

Batgirl

  • It's a shame I was introduced to Cass and Stephanie (I usually read Marvel and watch DC animated projects and live action films). So now Miss Barbara is back in the cowl and cape…I'll read this one.

Batwing

  • I didn't know about this character either until recently but I'm ready to start reading.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

  • I grew up watching the 80's cartoon and watched the newer cartoons as I grew up and as a grown up. I never knew that they started out as a comic book until 2-3 years ago I went to my local comic book shop on free comic book day and picked up the 25th anniversary edition of the first TMNT comic book. Lucky me!

 X-men

  • Okay, if you don't know by now,  I LOVE THE X-MEN! They (Nightcrawler especially) introduced me to comics. Now I haven't read every single book (you know how many there are?) but I've kept up with what's been going on thanks to websites (especially UncannyXmen.net) So now after the Schism storyline is over there's gonna be a new book. I think I'll take a read.

Justice League

  • I enjoyed the two cartoon shows so I think I'll pick up the book.

Justice League International

  • Vixen will be on this team!

X-force

  • I love Uncanny X-force and I'm looking forward to what's ahead.

Sucide Squad

  • Harley's on this team I don't like her costume though.

Thor & Loki: Blood Brothers Episode 4 Review

5 May

At the ending of part 3, Loki meets his real mother. There are snickers in the crowd that has gathered in front of the palace and Loki himself is embarrassed of her. He puts her under house arrest-without her knowing-in the farthest room in the palace.

Walking in the halls of the palace he is beseiged by different people who need his attention with their many problems and questions.  As he is known to be the trickster, he becomes invisible to them and runs off to another part of the palace where he can be alone to his thoughts.

He is ashamed of his mother and wonders outloud if Odin planned for him to be so. Drained from the recent events and revelations, Loki spends the night with a concubine-a gift from Karnilla.

The next morning arrives, and it is the day that Thor will die. Or is it? Hela returns giddy with glee at the thought of finally having Thor’s soul, but will she?

In the end, Loki has one more revelation and Thor must make a decision that might change the fates of Loki and himself.

Though this is the end of the series, something tells me there may be future episodes.  Stayed tuned.

Overall this was an excellent series. It’s a great way to learn about Asgard, Thor and Loki’s relationship and be introduced to some of the other characters.

May 6this coming up and the Thor film will be out in theaters in North America. I’m excited to see it and I’ll be writing a review for it. Also this month is when the Marvel animated movie Thor: Tales of Asgard will be out. It will be out May 17thso look forward to that.

I hope you enjoy these reviews. More to come soon!

Thor & Loki: Blood Brothers Episode 3 Review

5 May

Where we left off in episode (part)2, Loki requests for Karnilla to do him a favor in return for the freedom of Balder her lover.  Before going to Karnilla, Loki orders the Bifrost bridge destroyed and that the construction of the area where Thor is to be executed sped up.

When Loki goes to to see Karnilla he sees the many Lokis and Thors that exist throughout the cosmos and he learns that all the Lokis have the same fate-what is this fate? You’ll have to watch the episode to find out.

Determined not to end up the same way the other Lokis do, Loki’s decision to execute his step-brother remains.  Leaving Karnilla, he goes to see Thor and we see a flashback of Thor and Loki fighting. It’s the same flashback that we see in the trailer for the series.  We still don’t know how Loki defeated Thor all we know is that it may have something to do with fire.

Leaving his brother, Loki bumps into his mother Frigga and has a quick conversation with her. He finds out that she was there to visit his father Odin who is also a prisoner.  Loki goes to speak with his father and we learn that Odin isn’t his real father. Odin slayed Loki’s father in combat and he adopted Loki as his son.  Loki reveals to Odin that he knows the real reason Odin adopted him and it basically has come back to bite him in the ass. He tells Odin that he will watch Thor die the next day.

Throughout these first three episodes, we see a mysterious giant figure roaming the relam searching for Loki.  Who is this person? It’s Loki’s real mother and that is where this episode ends. The plot thickens, on to the final episode…

Throughout these episodes we see that Loki is missing teeth and in this episode his face is drawn a little differently in different scenes. I wonder why he is missing teeth and why he appears to have wrinkles.
